Safety: Last month there was an accident when an employee of Allen’s Flooring was pushing a pallet of materials through the building, and he slipped. He hit his head on the concrete, but his hard hat protected him. However, he hurt his shoulder. Thus there will be no safety lunch in July. We start a new month June 15, 2009, and if we can go from June 15 through July 15th without a recordable accident we will have a safety lunch in August.
Field Level: The Field level of the stadium was turned over to Football Operations on June 1, 2009, and is now occupied. Athletes have begun working out in the new weight room, they are using the locker room, and the equipment managers have moved into the new equipment room. The sports medicine area is occupied, and they are setting up their equipment and offices. We have completed 90% of the punch list items found by Sparks, and continue to make minor corrections. We have been directed to add three new rooms to this level, and the work has started on these rooms.
Plaza & Mezzanine Level: The plaza, mezzanine, and lower bowl were substantially complete for the first game on September 6, 2008. We are doing punch list work and installing a few added lights in these areas.
Major Equipment Installation: Kitchen equipment has been installed, and Cowboy Catering has moved into their new offices. The kitchen equipment is being started up and tested. Elevator and escalator inspections took place this week, and we are working through a few new code issues.
Upper Level Floors: All significant stud framing and sheet rock activities are done on the upper floors. All of the HVAC systems to these areas are working in automatic control. Installation of wood paneling, casework, flooring and paint are the focus of these floors.
Overall Schedule: The project is currently 98 % complete. The critical path of the project is finishes and punch listing. We have developed a completion check list for every room on the project. We are generally punch listing areas from south to north. Final cleaning has been done on the Field and Arena levels. We will begin turning upper floor areas over to Sparks for punch listing through this month. Most of the project will be punch listed by the owner/architect in June and July.
Summary: The project has approximately 130 craft workers on site now. The project team is working well together to resolve issues quickly as they arise. Finishes on the upper floors, and the correction of punch list items is our main focus now. We intend to finish this project strong.
