Oklahoma State Sports Medicine staff prides and commits itself to providing comprehensive, personalized and efficient health care to its student-athletes. A comprehensive Sports Medicine Program of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation has been developed to ensure the highest quality of medical care for you during your time at Oklahoma State University.

The Cowboys’ Director of Sports Medicine, Dr. Val Gene Iven, is responsible for the administration and management of the Sports Medicine Program and for the supervision of program staff. The sports medicine staff consists of University physicians, team physicians, athletics trainers, and various medical support staff. Dr. Iven is employed by the athletic department and is available to student-athletes all day within the athletic training room. He has a full pharmacy located in the athletic training room to quickly provide necessary prescription medications for your athletic injury or illness. His experiences as a board certified sports medicine physician are invaluable to our success in caring for our student-athletes here at Oklahoma State. Dr. Mark Pascale serves as our Head Team Orthopedic Surgeon and provides orthopedic and musculoskeletal care for all of the OSU student-athletes. Dr. Pascale is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine.

Our new 8,500 square foot athletic training room is one that has been designed and constructed to efficiently and effectively serve our football program. The new athletic training facility in the West Endzone has four hydrotherapy pools, digital x-ray, various therapeutic modalities, cardiovascular conditioning equipment, and a full line of Keiser rehabilitation machines. This facility is state of the art and serves our players in ways that allows them to rapidly return to activity.

The Athletic Training staff includes Director of Athletic Training and Physical Therapist John Stemm, Head Football Athletic Trainer Kevin Blaske, Assistant Football Athletic Trainer Scott Parker and a team of graduate and undergraduate athletic training students. Our staff prides itself on our treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. We will use all resources to quickly and safely return you to participation following an injury or illness you sustained while participating in football.
